In a bold statement highlighting his swift rise from an overlooked Division III player to a serious NBA prospect, Cedric Coward took to Instagram on Saturday, sharing training photos from the UCLA Health Training Center in Los Angeles. He was seen wearing Life Sports Agency gear.

His caption read: “Live, Love, Laugh, Learn. God will lead the way! #keepgoing #tmc,” alongside clips of him working on his game in preparation for the professional ranks.

Earlier that same day, Coward confirmed to ESPN that he will stay in the 2025 NBA Draft and won’t be joining Duke, opting instead to pursue his pro basketball dreams.

Initially committing to Duke in late April, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard was expected to join the Blue Devils for the 2025–26 season.

Originally committed to Duke at the end of April, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard had planned to join the Blue Devils roster for the 2025-26 college basketball season.

Instead, he has elected to remain in the draft, confident that his combine performances and pre-draft workouts have elevated his stock into the mid-to-late first-round conversation.

“This is the best opportunity for me to achieve part of my dream, which is making the NBA,” Coward told ESPN on Saturday. “Everything is pointing in the right direction right now to follow that.”

However, Cedric Coward has decided to stay in the NBA Draft, believing that his strong showings at the combine and in pre-draft workouts have pushed him into mid-to-late first-round consideration.

“This is the best chance for me to take a step toward my dream of reaching the NBA,” Coward told ESPN on Saturday. “Right now, everything seems to be aligning perfectly for me to take that path.”

Cedric Coward began his college career at Division III Willamette University in the 2021–22 season, where he made an immediate impact by averaging 19.4 points and 12.0 rebounds per game, earning both Northwest Conference Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Conference honors.

Looking for a higher level of competition, he transferred to Eastern Washington, where he spent two seasons and emerged as a First-Team All-Big Sky selection in 2024, posting averages of 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Coward’s final stop was Washington State, where he got off to a strong start, averaging 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game—before a season-ending shoulder injury cut his 2024–25 campaign short just six games in.
