UNC basketball freshman Drake Powell, who started more than half of the 37 games during the 2025-26 season and averaged 7.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, officially announced on Wednesday that he will be declaring for the 2025 NBA Draft, forgoing his remaining eligibility.

In his farewell message to the program and fans shared on social media, the 6-foot-6, 195-pound forward from Pittsboro, N.C., expressed his gratitude:
“Thank you for supporting me through the ups and downs of this past season. I’ve gained invaluable experiences both on and off the court. Being a Tar Heel is a part of who I am, and having the chance to wear that uniform, run through that tunnel, and compete for the university I love has been an unparalleled experience that I will always cherish
