This marked the program’s first Sweet Sixteen appearance with Pope at the helm, ending with a tough 78-65 defeat against the second-ranked Tennessee Volunteers on March 28th.
True freshman forward Trent Noah, a native of Harlan, Kentucky, played in 24 games, averaging 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds in about 11.1 minutes per game.

Kentucky’s shift to Coach Pope’s system yielded quick benefits, as the Wildcats finished 12th in the final AP Poll and recorded a 10-8 mark in the SEC, the most challenging conference in college basketball.
On the offensive side, the team averaged 85.6 points per game, ranking seventh in Division I, and set a new single-season record for three-pointers made.
Defensively, Kentucky allowed opponents to score an average of 76.8 points, showing consistent improvement throughout the season

Kentucky has been quite active this offseason, landing the second-best transfer portal class, featuring standout players Kam Williams and Jaland Lowe.
This added depth means Noah will face tough competition, but his understanding of Pope’s system provides him a solid chance for more playing time.
As a native of Kentucky, his return for the 2025-26 season presents a chance for a promising local talent to establish himself as an important two-way player for a team aiming for a national championship.
