Johnny Manziel Reveals His Expectations for Texas QB Arch Manning in 2025

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning may be facing more pressure and loftier expectations than any college football player before him.

Now stepping into his first season as Texas’ full-time starting quarterback, Manning is already being projected by major national outlets as a top contender for the sport’s most prestigious honors in 2025.

These high hopes seem even more credible coming from someone who’s faced similar pressure. Former Texas A&M star quarterback Johnny Manziel recently shared his outlook for Manning during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.

“I think he’ll end up being one of the top three quarterbacks in the SEC by season’s end,” Manziel said. “With the schedule and the strength of the conference, he has every chance to do what he needs to do to be in New York this December. I’m expecting big things from Arch.”

McAfee and Manziel both expressed their support for Manning, acknowledging the intense pressure he’s facing this season. “I hope he goes out there and gets it done,” McAfee said, with Manziel adding, “I hope he lights it up.”

Manning’s first major challenge will come on August 30, when Texas faces No. 2 Ohio State in Columbus. If he delivers the kind of performance many expect, the buzz around his Heisman chances will likely reach a fever pitch.
