Before joining the Chicago Sky, she gained national attention as one of college basketball’s most recognizable stars while playing for the LSU Tigers. Reese transferred to LSU after beginning her career at Maryland, where she had been a local standout recruit.
Now in her second season in the WNBA, Reese recently took a moment to show appreciation for one of her former coaches at LSU.
On Monday, she shared a birthday message for LSU assistant coach Gary Redus II, writing:
“Happy birthday to my guy. Auntie Tiff’s husband. The one that always believed. Appreciate you so much.”
LSU’s women’s basketball team also acknowledged Redus on social media, encouraging fans to send birthday wishes his way.
Reese played at LSU from 2022 to 2024 and was a driving force behind the Tigers’ 2022–23 national championship run, where she averaged 23 points and 15.4 rebounds per game.
Gary Redus II, son of former MLB player Gary Redus, joined LSU’s coaching staff under Kim Mulkey a year before Reese transferred to the program. His coaching experience includes prior roles with Vanderbilt, Delta State, and SMU.
In her final collegiate season (2023–24), Reese posted 18.6 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Now with the Chicago Sky, the 6-foot-3 forward is averaging 10.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in the WNBA.
