Intriguing As Fresno State Bulldogs receive another exciting news after Monday victory
Despite finishing second in the Mountain West regular-season standings, the Fresno State Diamond ‘Dogs led the way in the 2025 conference baseball awards announced Tuesday.
Fresno State’s Aidan Cremarosa was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Year, while third baseman Murf Gray earned a share of the Tony Gwynn Player of the Year Award, which honors the conference’s top position player. Gray shared the accolade with UNLV’s Dean Toigo.
Nevada claimed the Mountain West regular-season championship, edging out Fresno State by a single game. Wolf Pack head coach Jake McKinley was named Coach of the Year, and infielder Sean Yamaguchi earned Freshman of the Year honors.
Fresno State led all teams with four players named to the All-Mountain West First Team. Alongside Aidan Cremarosa and Murf Gray, pitcher Jack Anker and catcher Justin Stransky earned first-team honors. Nevada and New Mexico followed with three selections each, while UNLV had two, and Washington State had one.
No Fresno State players made the All-MW Second Team. Nevada added two more players to that list, and New Mexico had three more selected. A complete list of honorees appears at the end of the article.
The awards announcement came three days after the regular season ended and just one day before the start of the Mountain West Baseball Championship, which kicks off in Mesa, Arizona.
Fresno State earned a first-round bye in the tournament after taking two of three games at New Mexico last weekend. The Diamond ’Dogs and Lobos entered the series tied for second place, but Fresno State claimed a 7-5 win on Thursday and an 11-10 victory in 11 innings on Friday. Although they dropped Saturday’s finale 12-10, Fresno State finished the conference season at 18-12 and moved to 28-27 overall.

As the No. 2 seed, Fresno State will join top-seeded Nevada in the double-elimination portion of the tournament starting Thursday. The Diamond ‘Dogs will face the winner of Wednesday’s single-elimination matchup between No. 3 seed New Mexico and No. 6 seed San Jose State. That game is set for 1:05 p.m. PT, with Fresno State’s game to follow on Thursday at 6:05 p.m. PT.
On the other side of the bracket, No. 4 seed UNLV will face No. 5 seed San Diego State on Wednesday at 6:05 p.m. PT. The winner of that game will take on Nevada on Thursday at 1:05 p.m. PT.
If Fresno State wins Thursday, they’ll advance to the winner’s bracket game on Friday at 3:05 p.m. PT. A loss would send them into an elimination game Friday at 11:05 a.m. PT. Should they win that, they would return to the field Friday night for another elimination game at 7:05 p.m. PT.
