Injury Report Update

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz have announced that Keyonte George will not play in their upcoming preseason game against the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. George sustained a mild sprain in his left knee during Thursday’s victory over the Dallas Mavericks after slipping early in the third quarter. He had to be carried off the court, but his grandmother shared a video later of him climbing the stairs at the American Airlines Center.

George’s Injury Creates Opportunity for Isaiah Collier

With George sidelined, rookie Isaiah Collier is expected to take on a bigger role in leading the offense for coach Will Hardy’s team. Collier, who was selected 28th overall by the Jazz in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft, has displayed promising skills throughout the preseason. “He’s demonstrated during camp and the preseason that his decision-making likely surpasses his age, especially given the pace he plays at,” Hardy noted. In his three preseason appearances, Collier has averaged 4.7 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.3 steals in 19 minutes per game. To effectively compensate for George’s absence, Collier will need to improve his shooting percentages and minimize turnovers. Currently, he is shooting just 21% from the field and 20% from three-point range, along with averaging three turnovers per game in the early stages of his career.
