INCOMMING: Nebraska pushing the right buttons for 5-star athlete

In the previous recruiting cycle, Nebraska secured its first five-star football commitment under head coach Matt Rhule by landing quarterback Dylan Raiola. Now, in 2025, the Huskers are aiming to achieve a similar feat with five-star athlete Michael Terry III from San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights among their top priorities.

Nebraska, along with Texas, Texas A&M, and Oregon, is heavily involved in pursuing the nation’s top athlete, hosting him for a crucial official visit last month.

During a conversation with On3’s Josh Newberg on Tuesday, Terry shared insights regarding Nebraska’s recruitment efforts and their eagerness to have him visit Lincoln.

“They were in constant contact with me, reaching out almost daily,” he mentioned. “Their efforts to bring me up for a visit were commendable, and they demonstrated a genuine desire to have me there.”

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches and weighing 210 pounds, Terry attended Nebraska’s spring game, where he witnessed the fervent support of Husker fans, leaving a strong impression on him.

“It was an incredible experience,” he remarked. “The turnout at the spring game was beyond my expectations, showcasing the immense passion of the Husker fan base.”

Terry is scheduled for official visits to Texas, Texas A&M, and Oregon in the near future. He emphasized that feeling at home will play a significant role in his decision-making process, with a potential commitment possibly taking place in August. Notably, he highlighted that Nebraska has resonated with him the most in providing that sense of belonging.

“Nebraska has definitely made me feel at home thus far,” he shared. “It was a wonderful weekend; my family and I enjoyed exploring the campus and the surrounding areas. Overall, it was a memorable experience.”

he Huskers are one of the teams actively pursuing him for the wide receiver position

This versatile player does not have a specific role defined for him at the next level. Nebraska is interested in him as a jumbo slot receiver, drawing comparisons to Deebo Samuel. On the other hand, Oregon is eyeing him for the running back position, which is his preferred spot in the future.

He has built a strong rapport with offensive coordinator Will Stein, formerly at UTSA, feeling a connection with him.

“They are giving me a lot of attention,” he mentioned to On3’s Chad Simmons. “They have expressed their desire to have me on their team and they recognize potential in me.”

The local Aggies, being close geographically, are also actively pursuing him.

“Coach Wiggins has been reaching out to me frequently. Coming from Alabama, he offers valuable insights on advancing to the next level. Their goal is to create a sense of familiarity since they are in close proximity,” he stated.

Another local contender, Texas, has entered the picture in his recruitment recently. The Longhorns envision him contributing across various positions.

“Receiving an offer from Texas is significant,” he expressed. “It’s a prestigious school in my hometown with a history of success. I am impressed by what Coach Sark is building there. He has a track record of sending players to the NFL and enhancing their careers.”
