The Texas Longhorns are building steam for their 2026 recruiting class and appear to be closing in on landing a top, in-state offensive playmaker.
On3 Sports insider Charlie Williams projected on Wednesday that Texas will land a commitment from four-star 2026 running back Javian Osborne out of Forney, Texas. This prediction comes just a few days after Osborne announced that he will take his official visit to Austin this June.
The Dallas-area tailback has established himself as one of the top tailback prospects in the entire country and is currently ranked by On3 as the No. 6 RB for 2026. At 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, his calling card has been his explosive burst out of the backfield and he earned a trip to the Under Armour All-America Game in Janaury by breaking off 1,085 yards and 21 touchdowns this past season.
While the Longhorns appear to be the frontrunners for Osborne’s commitment at the moment, they have stiff competition in Michigan, who will also host the Forney tailback this summer. However, Texas should feel confident given his frequent visits to Austin in recent months and his strong relationship with running backs coach Tashard Choice.
Texas officially locked in the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for 2025 last week and is trying to continue that momentum with another top-ranked class for 2026. Osborne is one of several elite prospects that UT is currently in the mix for and we should see many of them make their respective decisions in the coming months.
Earlier this week, NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter predicted Texas having eight players selected within the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL Draft. Should that come to fruition, that will serve as a major pitch that Steve Sarkisian’s staff can use on the 2026 recruiting trail.
