“I want to start with thank you to coach McGuire” Texas Tech reportedly confirms the departure of a top superstar

“I want to start with THANK YOU to Coach McGuire and the rest of TEXAS TECH coaching staff for believing in me, and being a family also giving me more confidence as a football player.

“Also would like to thank the red raider nation for the support and great fan base I wish everyone at Texas Tech nothing but the best. With that being said I will be DECOMMITING from Texas Tech.”

Adams became the fifth recruit from the class of 2025 to declare his commitment to Texas Tech back in November 2023 and has remained loyal to the program ever since.

His transition from Smithville High School to Bastrop, followed by his commitment to Texas Tech, had sparked enthusiasm among supporters. With his recent change of heart, other teams now have the chance to compete for his skills.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Adams is ranked as the 776th prospect nationwide and the 124th prospect in Texas. 247 Sports classifies him as the 64th cornerback and the 120th prospect in Texas.

Ramonz Adams has garnered more than 10 recruitment offers, with notable ones coming from Boston College, Arizona, Vanderbilt, and UW. Recently, he received an offer from the University of Washington, following an offer from the Tulsa Golden Hurricane just a day prior. This offer from Washington came after they hosted nearly twenty recruits for a visit last month.

Unfortunately, Adams was unable to attend the Washington visit as he was on an official visit to Boston College. Known for his versatility on the field, Adams excels in both offense and defense, but his defensive skills truly stand out. While at Smithville, he accumulated impressive stats including 62 total tackles, 36 solo tackles, nine interceptions, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Offensively, he showcased his talents with 42 receptions for 689 yards and five touchdown catches over his sophomore and junior seasons. Beyond football, Adams is also a skilled basketball player and track and field athlete. In his sophomore year, he achieved a high jump of 6-0, a long jump of 20-4, and a triple jump of 42-5 in Spring 2023.
