Huskers in the driver’s seat for elite 5-star blue-chip recruit

As the Nebraska football coaching staff starts turning some of its attention to the 2027 class, things are looking far brighter than they are for the 2026 class. This week, it came out that the sun is especially shining on the Huskers when it comes to a 5-star tight end prospect in Ahmad Hudson, who could benefit both Matt Rhule’s and Fred Hoiberg’s basketball programs.

It should surprise absolutely no one that when it comes to landing Hudson, the coaching staff is getting a bit of help from 2027 quarterback commit Trae Taylor. However, the fact that the Cornhuskers are open to letting the Blue Chip prospect play both sports in college has to be a big key as well. He’s made it very clear he doesn’t want to have to choose between his two loves. At least not yet.

Nebraska football is leading the pack for Ahmad Hudson

While Nebraska has a long way to go before it can think about locking in a commitment from Ahmad Hudson, it has locked in a visit on November 1. That means he’ll be in Lincoln for a showdown against the USC Trojans. Should everything go right, it could be a game that allows the Huskers to take a big step towards the playoffs.

In other words, the vibes at Memorial Stadium could be off the charts.

NU will need those vibes as the dual-sport prospect, who is in the Top 25 players in the country in both football and basketball, is being pursued by the best programs in the country. Oregon and LSU are considered among the front-runners at the moment.

The Texas Longhorns are also thought to be in the fight and rising for the Ruston, Louisiana, star. However, Hudson has gone on record saying that, being a communications major, the Huskers and the Bayou Bengals are the teams that are separating themselves from the rest of the pack.

That’s absolutely massive news for the Nebraska football team, which might take a big step towards sealing the deal when he visits in November. Two weeks later, he’ll take a visit to LSU. It stands to reason Matt Rhule and Co. will want to push the issue before that trip.
