Hugh Freeze sends strong message to Auburn football Players in new Netflix docuseries
The 2024 season was a tough one for Auburn football.
The Tigers fell short of expectations, finishing with a 5-7 record and missing a bowl game. Auburn was one of the teams featured in the Netflix docuseries titled “SEC Football: Any Given Saturday” and it gave some insight into the emotions of the season.
In a clip posted to Netflix’s X (formerly Twitter) account, head coach Hugh Freeze is seen giving a speech to the team about the seniors toward the end of the season.
Freeze is visibly emotional in the clip, with his voice breaking as he speaks.
“You older guys, I’m sorry you’re not gonna get to experience the fullness that’s coming to Auburn football,” he said at the beginning of the clip. “You won’t get to experience the fullness of it.”

Freeze then read a text from Eugene Asante, a senior linebacker and captain on the 2024 team.
“If some of us must suffer this year to understand adversity and show these young kids how to handle it and blossom into something for the next season and establish a true standard of winning ways at Auburn football, so be it. Sign me up. And my joy will come from that service,” the text read.
