Transfer guard from Arkansas has picked the Wildcats.

The Kentucky Wildcats faced numerous challenges during their 2024 football season, but the most significant issue was their offensive line. It was rated among the worst in the SEC and even ranked low in college football overall. There was hope that the transfer portal could help address this problem. Fortunately, one promising offense lineman has committed to Kentucky.

Joshua Braun, a transfer from the Arkansas Razorbacks, has decided to join the Wildcats. His arrival is significant for several reasons, especially because he is a reliable presence on the interior line. Last season, he was named an All-SEC guard and played a key role in improving Arkansas’s rushing offense more than many expected.

Arkansas finished 42nd in the nation for rushing offense, largely due to the strength of their interior line. Now, one of those standout players will be bringing his skills to Kentucky. Head coach Mark Stoops believes this is part of the solution to the Wildcats’ struggles, as he aims to establish a strong rushing game that will create opportunities for the passing attack—something Kentucky lacked last year.

Former Arkansas offensive guard Joshua Braun is expected to transfer to Kentucky, @chris_hummer and I have learned for @247Sports/@CBSSports.

Stoops values a slow-paced offense that emphasizes time of possession, and without a solid running game, achieving this becomes difficult. If Kentucky can’t run the football effectively, they won’t be able to control the clock or maintain possession.

On a positive note, Kentucky saw the emergence of a talented freshman running back, Jamarion Wilcox, who made an impression despite some early-season blunders, like losing his shoes. With the addition of Braun, Wilcox could become even more effective. This signing is a great boost for Stoops and offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan.
