Huge Boost for Bulldogs as Nation’s No. 1 Athlete Makes His Thoughts on Kirby Smart Extremely Clear
Georgia and head coach Kirby Smart are in contention with five other recruiting powers to land the No. 1 athlete in the class of 2026. The recruitment of five-star wide receiver/cornerback Brandon Arrington reached a major point on March 10, the day that Arrington narrowed a high-profile list down to his top-six schools.
Along with the Bulldogs, Arrington is considering Oregon, USC, Penn State, Texas A&M and Alabama.
Arrington (6-foot-2, 180 pounds) plays for Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, California. The two-way star caught 31 passes for 527 yards with six total touchdowns as a junior while adding 26 tackles, three pass breakups and an interception.
While Arrington’s talent on the gridiron is apparent, he might be even more accomplished on the track. Arrington won a pair of state titles as a sprinter while recording personal bests in the 100-meter (10.27) and 200-meter (20.40) last year.
It’s no surprise that the Bulldogs have made their presence felt in the final stretch for Arrington as his decision approaches. Georgia is clearly pushing hard for a commitment and hosted Arrington on a visit over the weekend.
Arrington posted a photo with Smart on Saturday, calling the two-time national champion head coach “legendary” and the greatest of all time (GOAT).

Georgia signed the nation’s No. 2 class in the 2025 cycle after securing another SEC championship and College Football Playoff berth last season. Under Smart, the Bulldogs have signed nine-straight top-five recruiting classes.
UGA is clearly a contender for Arrington, but there is likely a long ways to go in his recruitment. And Oregon, USC, Penn State, Texas A&M and Alabama will make pushes of their own.
Arrington has four official visits scheduled over the spring and summer, including Penn State (May 2), Texas A&M (June 5), Oregon (June 13) and USC (June 17).
