Hubert Davis shows visible frustration as UNC misses out on key targets and report another disappointing news
As the top-ranked rising junior in North Carolina and the No. 3 overall prospect in the nation according to the 247Sports 2027 Composite, CJ Rosser didn’t take long to catch the attention of UNC basketball recruiters. Since first appearing on the Tar Heels’ radar, the standout from Northern Nash High School (N.C.) and Team United has remained a key figure in their 2027 recruiting plans.

The 6-foot-9, 185-pound sophomore forward has already made two unofficial visits to Chapel Hill — first for UNC’s double-digit home loss to Alabama on December 4, and again for their March 1 win over Miami. Following the latter visit, Rosser received an official scholarship offer from head coach Hubert Davis, marking him as the program’s first official target in the 2027 class.
Davis, now in his fourth year leading the Tar Heels, was recently spotted courtside in Memphis, Tennessee, watching Rosser compete in the EYBL circuit — a clear indication that the 55-year-old coach views him as a top recruiting priority.
In a game attended by high-profile coaches including Kentucky’s Mark Pope and Houston’s Kelvin Sampson, Rosser delivered a dominant performance with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks. As SportsCenter NEXT highlighted in postgame coverage, the 16-year-old is already proving to be “a matchup nightmare.
Meanwhile, he’s still the only UNC basketball offer holder on the 2027 trail.”
