Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels Dealt With Unexpected News
One of the early names mentioned as a target for North Carolina in the transfer portal was former Nevada forward Nick Davidson, who entered the portal a few weeks ago. The Tar Heels reached out to Davidson immediately, but they faced competition from several other programs interested in him.
On Sunday, Davidson provided an important update on his recruitment by narrowing his options down to five schools: Virginia, Washington, Texas, Notre Dame, and Clemson. This is a tough setback for the Tar Heels, who are looking for assistance on the wing for the upcoming season.
Standing at 6-foot-10, the junior was among the top wings available in the portal and appeared to be a good match for North Carolina, as he averaged 15.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season at Nevada.

With the Tar Heels losing important players from last season and currently having two players in the transfer portal, it’s crucial for them to find ways to enhance their roster.
Failing to land potential targets will not benefit their efforts
The bright side is that the Tar Heels still have numerous targets available, and they even welcomed a guard from the transfer portal on Saturday. There’s still ample time in the offseason, but as more targets commit elsewhere, UNC will need to make a significant impact and secure new talent.
