BREAKING: “Massive Boost” UCF coach Gus Malzahn Announces Major Commitment from a 4-star QB

UCF Lands  Four-Star DB Commit

Exciting news for UCF fans! Jamarrion Gordon has changed his verbal commitment from Alabama to UCF.

A four-star defensive back from Jackson High School in Alabama, is part of the 2026 class and made the switch just before UCF’s major summer recruiting event, generating significant excitement. This decision leaves Alabama with only one commitment for the 2026 class, while UCF secures a big victory.

Measuring 6 feet tall and weighing 174 pounds, Gordon played a crucial role in Jackson’s impressive 11-1 season and second-round appearance in Alabama’s Class 4A playoffs last fall. In his two years on the varsity team, he has recorded 72 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, and 10 pass breakups.

According to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Gordon is the 217th overall recruit in the nation for the 2026 class, while On3 Sports places him 205th overall and 21st among cornerbacks.

In a phone interview, Gordon expressed his trust in UCF’s coaching staff: “I have faith in (cornerbacks coach Trovon) Reed and (head coach) Gus (Malzahn). I believe they can help me reach the NFL. … Coach Reed has done it before and understands my goals and experiences.”

Originally, Gordon committed to Alabama on May 18 but visited UCF’s campus last month. After attending the annual Knight Splash event, he chose to switch his commitment to the Knights. He joins his high school teammate, wide receiver Keeyun Chapman, as the first members of UCF’s 2026 class. The Knights are also pursuing other talented players from Jackson, including quarterback Landon Duckworth, who just decommitted from another school.

Currently, only 21 FBS programs have multiple commitments for the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. UCF is gaining momentum with 19 commits for the 2025 class, which is currently ranked 24th nationally.
