Heartbreaking: Rangers Mourns A Beloved Member Who Passed away At the age of 73

During my time covering the Texas Rangers, I witnessed numerous player changes and five different managers, along with the transformation of the ballpark itself. Yet, one constant presence at the stadium was the friendly face of Wanda Williams.

Wanda, who served as the media dining room director for many years, passed away on Monday at the age of 73, after struggling with health issues for several years. Known affectionately as “Miss Wanda,” she worked at Globe Life Park and Globe Life Field and had been with the catering company for over 20 years, serving both Rangers and Dallas Mavericks games. Regardless of whether it was your first day or you were in your tenth season, she welcomed everyone with respect, humor, and warmth. According to the Rangers, Miss Wanda was a “fixture” in the press box, known for her lively personality and her ability to keep the dining area orderly and inviting. She was consistently generous to the regulars while also upholding dining rules firmly.

Funeral arrangements are still being organized, and a large venue will be needed. Williams was a cherished member of the Rangers family, also famous for her cranberry-pecan chicken salad, which many praised. Whenever I complimented her cooking, she would often offer to pack some up for me to take home after the game. She ensured the dining room was running smoothly, clean, and delicious. “Wanda’s presence has been missed these last few years as she dealt with health challenges, and she will always be remembered with affection,” remarked the Rangers in a statement.
