Heart-breaking :Chicago White Sox Yet Again Announce Another Devastating Injury Update Of A Significant Player
After finishing last season with a record of 41-121, the Chicago White Sox aren’t expected to be competitive in the near future. However, there are some intriguing developments to keep an eye on in 2025, especially the growth of their young core players.
Among this group is right-hander Drew Thorpe, who joined the team in a trade that sent Dylan Cease to the San Diego Padres last offseason. Unfortunately, it seems Thorpe will start the season on the injured list due to elbow problems.
According to MLB.com:
Thorpe faced a couple of setbacks this offseason following his September 7 surgery to remove a bone spur from his right elbow, which necessitated a cortisone injection on January 24. As a result, he will likely not be ready for the beginning of the season.
In his nine starts for the White Sox last season, Thorpe recorded a 3-3 record with a 5.48 ERA. While he doesn’t throw particularly hard, he managed to strike out 25 batters in 44.1 innings. At the time of his major league debut in June, he was considered a top-60 prospect.
With Thorpe recovering, the White Sox may turn to Jonathan Cannon. Following the trade of ace Garrett Crochet this offseason, the team lacks a standout pitcher. While top prospects Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith have the potential to become aces, they won’t be part of the roster when training camp opens; Schultz may make his debut later in the season.
The White Sox will report to spring training in Glendale this week and are set to kick off their regular season on March 27.
