Head Coach Brad Brownell’s & The Clemson Tiger Announce An Exciting News Following Huge Commitment Of Another Top Player
The Clemson Tigers are actively pursuing players in the transfer portal to strengthen their program. Their latest acquisition, announced on Sunday, is Butta Johnson, who played for the UAB Blazers. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 8.8 points and 2.1 rebounds, starting in 21 of 37 games.
As a guard, Johnson becomes the fourth addition to head coach Brad Brownell’s roster, joining RJ Godfrey, Carter Welling, and Nick Davidson. While these transfers will certainly bolster the team, Brownell might not be finished with the portal just yet.
Clemson still has the opportunity to recruit another top guard, Bryce Lindsay from the James Madison Dukes, who is currently exploring his options and has shown a strong interest in the Tigers. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Lindsay is narrowing down his list of potential schools, with Clemson still in the mix

Villanova
Vanderbilt

Averaging 13.4 points in his 2024-25 season, Lindsay could significantly enhance Brownell’s program as he continues to grow. That same year, he earned multiple honors, including Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, Sun Belt Sixth Man of the Year, and a spot on the Third Team All-Sun Belt.
In the previous 2023-24 season, he played for the Texas A&M Aggies and participated in eight games. Although he is still young, his natural on-court talent is evident, and he has demonstrated adaptability that could be a real asset for Clemson.
However, he hasn’t made a decision yet. Lindsay is weighing his options among six other schools: the Florida Gators, Villanova Wildcats, Vanderbilt Commodores, Miami Hurricanes, USC Trojans, and Indiana Hoosiers.
Standing 6-foot-3, he has some important choices ahead as he seeks a collegiate environment that will support his development and aspirations for his athletic career. While the Tigers are eager to recruit him, nothing is finalized yet. He remains a sought-after player in the transfer portal, with several other programs showing interest, leading to a lot of uncertainty.

The transfer portal closes on April 22, and while players aren’t required to make a decision by then, it marks the end of the active transfer period. The clock is ticking, creating significant pressure for both players and coaches in this fast-paced environment
