HC Willie Fritz Discusses Cougars’ Near Upset Against Oklahoma, Preparing for Rice
University of Houston Cougars football head coach Willie Fritz joins The Matt Thomas Show after the team nearly upset the No. 15 Oklahoma Sooners in a close 16-12 defeat.
Quarterback Donovan Smith threw for 260 yards, completing 24 of 28 passes with one touchdown and an interception, showing improvement after the 27-7 home loss to the UNLV Rebels. “I definitely feel like we improved from Week 1 to Week 2,” Fritz stated.
The Cougars are set to host the Rice Owls this weekend for the Bayou Bucket rivalry, aiming to bounce back from last season’s 43-41 double overtime loss.
