Green Bay Packers make unexpected bold move on major fan favorite
The Green Bay Packers are expected to be busy this offseason. As they look to improve their chances of winning the Super Bowl in 2025, that could come with additions and subtractions.
Unfortunately, there are some fan favorite players who may not be back next season.
One specific fan favorite seems likely to be on his way out of town. That player is none other than running back A.J. Dillon.
After deciding to re-sign with the Packers last offseason, Dillon suffered an injury before the regular season and missed the entire year. It seems that the two sides are heading for the end of their time together this offseason.
Following Green Bay’s decision to tender running back Emmanuel Wilson, Dillon’s future with the Packers seems even more unlikely. Wilson will be back and Green Bay will also have MarShawn Lloyd back next season as well.
If this is the end for Dillon with the Packers, he will have put together a great tenure with the team.
Dillon would end his Green Bay career with 60 total games played, 597 carries, 2,428 rushing yards, and 16 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 86 passes for 763 yards and two more scores.
At 26 years old, Dillon should not find it hard to find another opportunity if he leaves the Packers. There are many different teams around the NFL who could use more running back depth.
While it would be a sad day for the Green Bay fan base, it’s time to start preparing for this to happen. It seems very unlikely that Dillon will be back in 2025.
