Georgia Tech legend Joe Hamilton no longer employed as team’s radio analyst

Georgia Tech icon Joe Hamilton is no longer the team’s radio analyst. The specific reasons for his absence during Saturday’s game against Syracuse are still uncertain.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Hamilton’s tenure with the Yellow Jackets has ended, as he is no longer employed by Dickey Broadcasting, which oversees Georgia Tech’s main station, 680 The Fan. Dickey confirmed in a statement: “Joe Hamilton is no longer an employee of Dickey Broadcasting Company and will not be heard on 680 The Fan or Georgia Tech radio broadcasts. Our company has chosen to take a different direction. We all love and respect Joe and wish him the best for the future.”

Hamilton was absent from the radio booth during the Yellow Jackets’ loss to the Orange, and the station’s operations director did not respond to inquiries about his absence. Attempts to reach Hamilton were also unsuccessful.

Hamilton, who was 47, not only served as the Georgia Tech radio analyst but also co-hosted the weekday morning show, The Locker Room. He was also missing from Monday’s broadcast.

Hamilton’s departure comes two years after he stepped into the analyst role, succeeding former player Sean Bedford, who had taken a break after the 2021 season. Bedford filled in for Hamilton during Saturday’s game, but it remains unclear if he will continue as the Yellow Jackets’ radio analyst going forward.
