The Georgia Bulldogs are feeling optimistic about their chances of securing one of the top playmakers in the 2026 class following his announcement of visit plans.
They appear to be in a strong position to recruit in-state two-way talent Tyriq Green, and they are also competing for one of the top receivers in the class.
Recently, four-star receiver Calvin Russell from Miami Northwestern, Florida, named the Bulldogs among his top 12 schools.
With various teams vying for his commitment, it seems Russell will take his time before making a decision. He shared insights on the schools that are most prominent in his thoughts during an interview with On3’s Hayes Fawcette, published on Monday.
When asked which of the 12 schools he planned to visit, Russell initially said he wanted to visit “all of them,” but clarified that “Syracuse, Miami, Florida State, Georgia, and Florida will definitely receive official visits.”
He mentioned he might also check out Ohio State while emphasizing that all 12 schools are significant to him.
Michigan, North Carolina, Auburn, Oregon, LSU, Alabama, and USC also make the cut in Russell’s top 12.
It’s not surprising that the three well-known Florida programs are at the top of his list. Georgia’s closeness to his home state likely influences his thinking, and their inclusion among his five confirmed visits could boost interest in adding him to their receiving corps.
As the fourth-ranked receiver in On3’s industry rankings, securing Russell would be a major win for the Bulldogs, especially as they face the risk of losing ninth-ranked receiver Vance Spafford to USC.
If they can keep Spafford and attract Russell away from his home state, the Bulldogs’ passing game will be in a strong position for 2026 and the future.
