Former Yellow Jacket Jose Alvarado Lands New Contract Extension With The New Orleans Pelicans
Alvarado has been one of the top bench players in the NBA since joining from Georgia Tech.
The former Georgia Tech point guard, Jose Alvarado, secured a lucrative contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans today. As reported by Shams Charania at The Athletic, Alvarado has signed a two-year, $ 9 million extension with the Pelicans, including a player option for the 2026-2027 season.
After going undrafted and signing with the Pelicans, Alvarado has emerged as one of the most effective bench players in the NBA. Throughout his career, he has averaged 7.5 PPG, 2.1 APG, and 1.2 steals per game, shooting 42% overall and 34% from three-point range.

New Orleans aims to return to the playoffs this season and has made a significant trade for former Hawks guard Dejounte Murray. Alvarado will be crucial to the Pelicans’ success this season.
