Former Giants Super Bowl champ Sends Harsh Words. I Am Amazed…

The New York Giants have begun their season with a 1-3 record for the second year in a row under head coach Brian Daboll, following a 20-15 loss to division rivals the Dallas Cowboys on “Thursday Night Football.”

This defeat marks Dallas’s seventh straight win over New York, and Giants players were not satisfied with just avoiding another rout.

This frustration was echoed by former Giants players, including Super Bowl XLVI champion Chris Canty, who shared his feelings about the third-year head coach during an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Friday morning.

“He’s finished. He’s done,” Canty told host Mike Greenberg. “He’s the biggest loser coming out of last night.”

The New York Giants have yet to score a touchdown at home this season, and Canty criticized Daboll for not accomplishing this and for lacking aggression on fourth downs during the second half on Thursday.

“Last night, you had a chance—on the first drive of the second half, you’re at the 3-yard line with a goal-to-go situation… but you decide not to go for it there, even though you attempt to convert three other times later in the game,” Canty said. “That was a pivotal moment… a crucial opportunity to score, especially for a team that hasn’t hit the end zone at home this season, and you failed to take advantage.”

Under Daboll, New York’s record stands at 16-21, and they are 7-16 without quarterback Daniel Jones, according to Statmuse.

When asked who might return to MetLife Stadium in 2025, Canty made a surprising prediction.

“Daniel Jones is more likely to be back next year than Brian Daboll,” he stated, leaving the “Get Up” panel in disbelief.

“[Daboll] is giving the Giants management reasons to move on from him after this season,” Canty added, pointing to Daboll’s poor coaching choices, like not having a backup kicker ready when starter Graham Gano was injured in the Week 2 loss to Washington.

New York has a 10-day gap before heading to Seattle for Week 5, a game that could be crucial for Daboll if he hopes to quiet any further speculation about his job security.
