Kendal Daniels just wrapped up his fourth season in Stillwater as a member of the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Soon, he’ll be playing across enemy lines with the Oklahoma Sooners.
Daniels entered the transfer portal earlier this offseason after the team’s disappointing 3-9 campaign. It’s being reported that he’s committed to OU for his redshirt senior season.
Daniels had been productive with the Cowboys, landing Freshman All-America honors in 2022. That season, he racked up 71 tackles and three interceptions as a versatile linebacker/safety threat.
It was more of the same in 2023 when he tallied a career-high 105 takedowns while adding two more picks to help Oklahoma State win 10 games. This past season, he led the team with 11 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks.
Despite the production, he landed criticism from many among the fanbase. Some questioned his effort on defense, accusing him of playing with a low motor during crucial moments. “Laziness” and selfishness” were terms often thrown around.
Both of these plays Kendal Daniels should of made a stop. He either let them score intentionally or took a bad angle then gave zero effort. If you watch Skattebo he is shocked the he didn't get pushed out and was trying to figure out why Daniels missed him. Seems intentional pic.twitter.com/HOwydzccMB

Many believe Kendal Daniels quit on his team a number of times throughout the year. They took to social media to publicly air those frustrations during the season. Those same fans are now unhappy with his transfer decision.

He’ll now join Brent Venables’ defense in the SEC, a landing spot Cowboys fans despise. Unfortunately, Daniels won’t get a chance to play his former school head-to-head.
Conference realignment played a part in ending the annual rivalry following the Sooners‘ decision to leave the Big 12. “Bedlam is dead,” Mike Gundy said of the series on the gridiron. “It’s not going to be Bedlam after they leave the conference… I think it’s history.”
