Burnley defender ‘attracting interest from Premier League, Bundesliga clubs’

The 23-year-old defender, Beyer, made a loan move to Burnley in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Monchengladbach, seeking regular playing time. He played a crucial role in Burnley’s Championship-winning season under Vincent Kompany, helping the team finish above Sheffield United in the standings.

During his time with the Clarets, Beyer appeared in 30 second-tier matches, starting 29 of them, and contributed four goals to the team’s league campaign. Additionally, he has international experience, having represented Germany’s Under-21 team on seven occasions between August 2019 and June 2023.

Burnley defender Jordan Beyer is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs ahead of the summer transfer window. According to reports, some of Burnley’s Premier League counterparts have inquired about Beyer’s availability, while unnamed Bundesliga sides have also approached the Clarets about the possibility of signing the German centre-back.

Beyer’s potential departure from Turf Moor could be a possibility if Burnley is unable to avoid an immediate return to the Championship this season. Despite a respectable point at Manchester United’s home stadium on Saturday, Burnley remains in the bottom three of the Premier League, two points behind 17th-placed Nottingham Forest.

Despite not making an appearance for Burnley this year, Beyer has garnered attention from clubs across Europe’s top leagues. The centre-back has been sidelined due to a combination of hamstring and knee problems, resulting in only 15 Premier League starts for Burnley in the 2023-24 season.

Beyer is reportedly making good progress in his recovery from his knee injury and is expected to return to full fitness soon, possibly being available for the final three matches of the season. Recently, the defensive partnership of Dara O’Shea and January addition Maxime Esteve has been effective, contributing to Burnley’s collection of four points from two recent games.
