Florida State Seminole makes huge decision after a terrifying Incident
Florida State has canceled all home athletic events through the weekend following a tragic shooting that resulted in two fatalities and six injuries.
The shooter, identified as 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, opened fire around midday. Witness McKenzie Heeter told NBC News that Ikner, who she described as white with light hair, discharged 15 rounds.
In light of this tragic incident, FSU announced the cancellation of scheduled games for both the baseball and softball teams.
The baseball team was set to compete against Virginia on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Meanwhile, the softball team was slated to host Georgia Tech on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, marking what was supposed to be senior weekend— the final home games of their season

All Florida State athletics home events through Sunday, April 20, have been canceled.
Further updates on events scheduled for next week will be communicated when available.

Two individuals lost their lives in the shooting, and six others sustained injuries. Police identified the shooter during a press conference held shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday.
Witness Heeter described the gunman as wearing an orange t-shirt and khaki shorts, appearing like “a typical college guy.”
It was reported that the shooter arrived on campus in a Hummer.
Disturbing footage began circulating on social media, including a video that showed a victim being carried to safety by paramedics.
Students also posted videos of themselves taking cover under desks, while heavily armed law enforcement officers with long guns were present on campus

The FBI has announced its participation in the investigation.
As evacuations took place, images emerged showing worried students and faculty attempting to contact loved ones on campus. Florida State University declared on Thursday afternoon that all classes and events for the day were canceled.
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare reported that it was treating at least six victims and was “fully mobilized and prepared to provide the highest level of care and support to all those affected.”
Police have reportedly confiscated several firearms, including a shotgun and a pistol, and one suspect was taken into custody while carrying a weapon.
This incident marks not the first mass shooting incident at the FSU Tallahassee campus; in November 2014, an alumnus shot an employee and two students in the Strozier Library. The shooter was killed by responding officers.
