Five-Star LSU Football Freshman, No. 1 prospect Transforms Body

LSU freshman running back Harlem Berry is quickly becoming a name to watch this offseason, making an early impression after arriving as Louisiana’s top overall prospect and the No. 1 running back in the 2025 recruiting class.
Berry has spent the offseason working behind projected starter Caden Durham and returning back Kaleb Jackson. Durham will look to build on a strong freshman season, while Jackson hopes to rebound after an inconsistent 2024 campaign.
Berry, meanwhile, has already started turning heads.
The Louisiana native has shown versatility early on, demonstrating both the ability to catch passes in space and run effectively between the tackles. A source noted that Berry has added significant muscle since enrolling in January, putting himself in the mix for the No. 2 running back spot as Fall Camp begins.
Berry confirmed this week that he’s gained 20 pounds since arriving in Baton Rouge — an important development ahead of LSU’s Fall Camp, which begins July 29, leading up to their season opener against Clemson.
Head coach Brian Kelly took note of Berry’s natural talent during Spring Camp, highlighting the freshman’s instincts.
“He’s just a natural runner,” Kelly said. “He sees things on the move that you really can’t coach — that’s something elite backs just have. He still needs development in areas like pass protection, scheme, even nutrition — but he’s coachable and eager to learn. He absolutely lives up to the hype as the top running back in the country.”
Now, with camp underway, Berry is pushing to make an immediate impact in his debut season for the Tigers.
