Perhaps the most impressive part of the 15th-ranked Missouri men’s basketball team’s electric 110-98 win Wednesday over No. 4 Alabama was an overlooked stat. The Tigers missed 16 free throws, so the margin of victory could have been more lopsided.
It was a wild night in Columbia. Late in the game, Mizzou coach Dennis Gates implored fans not to rush the court, and he explained why he made that announcement following the game. Keeping fans off the court allowed for a great postgame interview with Gates, who was interrupted by the entire team.
That Mizzou postgame interview was pure comedy.

A memorable evening for the Tigers was capped by a small fire that broke out at Mizzou Arena. Alarms went off while Bama coach Nate Oats was talking with the media.
“Yeah, they were on fire tonight, that’s for sure,” Oats quipped. “That’s what was going on. We’ve known that for about two hours.”
