Two highly-touted baseball players from Rankin County have committed to the University of Southern Mississippi.

Jackson Meehan from Northwest Rankin High School and Taylor Latham from Hartfield Academy announced their commitment on Sunday.

Meehan, a right-handed pitcher/shortstop, and Latham, also a right-handed pitcher, are both ranked among the top 10 high school prospects in the class of 2026 from Mississippi, as reported by Prep Baseball Mississippi.

Southern Miss baseball is coming off another successful season, with head coach Christian Ostrander leading the Golden Eagles to their second consecutive Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship and achieving eight straight 40-win seasons—the longest active streak in the country—during his first year in charge.

Nick Monistere, a graduate of Northwest Rankin, has also played a significant role in the recent success of the Golden Eagles.
