Few weeks After Decommitting From The Duke Basketball Program, Shelton Henderson Has Seen His Stock Fall
When Shelton Henderson, a forward from Bellaire High School in Texas, committed to Duke and head coach Jon Scheyer in early November, he was ranked as a five-star recruit and held the No. 15 spot in the 2025 class according to 247Sports. By February, he had moved up to No. 14.
However, Henderson decommitted from Duke in mid-April and announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes shortly after. He joined new Miami head coach Jai Lucas, who had recently left Duke after three seasons as one of Scheyer’s lead assistants.
Following the switch, 247Sports no longer considers Henderson a five-star prospect. In their final 2025 rankings update this week, he fell 11 spots to No. 25 overall—the largest drop among any top-30 player in the update.

All three of Duke’s remaining 2025 signees are now ranked higher than Shelton Henderson. Five-star forward Cameron Boozer holds the No. 3 spot nationally, fellow five-star forward Nikolas Khamenia sits at No. 15, and four-star guard Cayden Boozer comes in at No. 23.
Duke’s 2025 recruiting class currently ranks third in the nation and first in the ACC.
