Fernando Tatis Jr. had a message for longtime MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal following the San Diego Padres’ victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night.
The Dodgers and Padres have engaged in a competitive NLDS so far. Tensions peaked during Game 2 on Sunday when Manny Machado appeared to throw a ball toward the Dodgers’ dugout, prompting Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to describe the incident as “very bothersome” and “disrespectful.” A video later revealed that Machado’s action wasn’t as serious as it seemed.
Rosenthal expressed his displeasure with Machado in The Athletic, criticizing him for a “punkish response” to Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty hitting Tatis in Game 2. He also had strong words for Tatis and Jurickson Profar.
“Machado is far from the Padres’ only irritant,” Rosenthal stated. “Fernando Tatis Jr. is a smiling, dancing peacock. Jurickson Profar is like the kid who pulls the fire alarm at school and then asks, ‘Who, me?’”
The Padres defeated the Dodgers 6-5 on Tuesday night in Game 3 at Petco Park in San Diego, Calif. Tatis contributed with a crucial two-run home run in the 2nd inning.
After the game, Tatis posted a photo on Instagram celebrating his home run, including an emoji of a peacock and a dancing figure, which clearly referenced Rosenthal’s comment about him being a “smiling, dancing peacock.”

The Padres are clearly embracing the villain role, receiving support in this from both Dodgers fans and now Rosenthal.
