Auburn tight end Hollis Davidson III was reportedly arrested on a felony drug charge in his home state of Georgia back on July 28th. This comes from an article by Peter Rauterkus at AL.com on Friday afternoon.

Per the report of the arrest back on June 19th, law enforcement found Davidson loitering around a closed business where he was in possession of a THC vape, as well as loose marijuana of an undisclosed amount. The vape was taken for testing, with it later being positive for Delta 9 at a concentrate of 1.42%, which led to an arrest warrant out for Davidson on July 26th.

Davidson was in possession of a Schedule I controlled substance. He was booked in the morning two days later at the start of last week, before bailing out the following day on July 29th at a posted amount of $5,000.

The arrest warrant, booking, and bailing out all took place in the midst of Auburn beginning fall camp with players reporting on the 29th of July. Per Rauterkus, a spokesperson for the Tigers said Davidson is suspended for “violation of team rules.”

This makes for the latest notable arrest down at Auburn as of late. Linebacker D’Angelo Barber and wide receiver Malcolm Simmons were also arrested back in the month of July. Barber was arrested on several felony drug trafficking charges in Dadeville, Alabama, on July 7th, leading to his apparent dismissal from the team per WVTM 13.

Simmons was arrested on July 16th on charges of domestic assault with strangulation or suffocation, with him actually having a preliminary hearing for his case earlier this morning. It’s a separate program, but point guard Tahaad Pettiford was also arrested on July 12th on a DUI.

Davidson, a native of Peachtree City, Georgia, just southwest of Atlanta and around an hour and a half northeast of Auburn, played his high school football at McIntosh. He was a Top 300 overall recruit there as a four-star in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He also rated as the No. 15 TE in the class and a Top 40 player out of Georgia. That’s according to the Rivals’ Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Davidson arrived as one of 26 signees, and one of two tight ends along with Ryan Ghea (No. 584 overall, No. 29 TE), who were part of the No. 8 class for the Tigers in ’25. That comes via Rivals’ Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
