Fans react to Rhule’s latest defensive injury news before Michigan game

Nebraska had relatively good news on the injury front as the Huskers turn their attention to Michigan this week.

Linebacker Javin Wright and defensive back Malcom Hartzog Jr., both missed last week’s game with Houston Christian and Rhule said he expects both players to be available for the matchup with Michigan.

“They’ll play. The thing with Javin was at first it was like, ‘what is this?'” You have to be so abundantly cautious when he feels something, but the doctors quickly said ‘he’s just got a little strain.’ It seemed better to hold him because it was later in the week.

‌“Malcolm, he went around and moved around last night. I would expect to see Malcom and Javin ready to go.”

With Hartzog out, cornerback Ceyair Wright moved to nickel and redshirt freshman Donovan Jones started at corner as Nebraska held a team to less than 70 yards passing for the third consecutive week.

In addition to the news in the secondary, Nebraska will also have a pair of defensive linemen back in the mix, Rhule said. Senior defensive lineman Elijah Jeudy limped off the field in the first half against Houston Christian, but will be available against Michigan. So, too, will reserve defensive lineman Gabe Moore, who was helped off the field against Houston Christian.

“Jeudy took a helmet to the thigh, he was in there in treatment this morning, he practiced last night,” Rhule said. “Gabe Moore is good to go. Gabe was arguing with me on the sidelines to go back in the game. He wanted to play. It’s been a long road back for him from the ACL four years ago and then some of the hamstring stuff is related to that. He played well, it was worth getting some of the younger guys in there.”
