Just in: “Massive Boost” as highly-rated 4-star elite LB lists Bruins as preferred school destination

A highly-rated linebacker has named UCLA as one of his top picks for college, enhancing the team’s recruitment campaign.

Per a report from Bruin Report Online, Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, a four-star linebacker from Bethel High School in Spanaway, Washington, has narrowed down his college options to three schools, with UCLA making the cut.

At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Rainey-Sale is regarded as the top player in Washington, the 14th-best linebacker in the country, and the 111th-best overall player, as indicated by 247Sports.

UCLA has been putting a strong focus on recruitment under the guidance of new head coach DeShaun Foster and defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe. This shift follows former head coach Chip Kelly’s departure to Ohio State as the offensive coordinator, which left the Bruins with a less-than-ideal recruiting class for the upcoming 2024 NCAA season, their first in the Big 10 conference.

Rainey-Sale’s potential addition could greatly strengthen UCLA’s defense under Foster and Malloe. In addition to UCLA, he is also considering Florida State and Washington for his collegiate career.

A final decision from Rainey-Sale is still pending, but the fact that UCLA has made it into his top three choices underscores the success of their recruitment efforts. Previously, Rainey-Sale had shown interest in Alabama and Arizona before ultimately focusing on his current top contenders.
