The Cincinnati Reds have strengthened their team by signing a new pitcher, Frankie Montas, to a one-year deal for $16 million.
Montas, who is 30 years old and throws right-handed, played only once last season for the New York Yankees due to shoulder surgery in February.
He’s known for his impressive performance with the Oakland Athletics from 2017 to 2022, especially in 2021 when he achieved a 3.37 ERA with 207 strikeouts, making him a top contender for the AL Cy Young Award.
However, his time with the Yankees wasn’t as successful, with a 6.35 ERA. Now with the Reds, Montas is set to join their roster alongside other notable pitchers like Hunter Greene.
