Ex-Oregon State Beavers standout Sean Mannion exits the NFL and transitions to the coaching realm with the Green Bay Packers: Report
Sean Mannion has retired from his NFL player career and has joined the Green Bay Packers as a coach. The former Oregon State quarterback stepped down from playing immediately and has taken on a role as an assistant coach with a focus on working with quarterbacks and the passing game.
Although his specific title is not disclosed, he will be closely involved with the development of quarterback Jordan Love, who excelled in leading the Packers to the playoffs in the 2023 season.
Known for being drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the third round of the 2015 NFL draft, Mannion made appearances in 14 games throughout his career, including three starts. His most recent start was in 2021 for the Vikings.
Mannion has a tie to Green Bay’s head coach Matt LaFleur, as he served as a backup quarterback for the Rams when LaFleur was the offensive coordinator in 2017. Over his nine-year career, Mannion played for the Rams, Minnesota Vikings, and Seattle Seahawks.
