The plaintiff filed a lawsuit in New York State Superior Court, accusing Moulds of infecting her and several other women with the herpes simplex virus Type 2. The woman claims she had no previous sexual partners and only learned about Moulds’ condition when his pregnant fiancée contacted her in December 2023.

Moulds’ attorney, Frank LoTempio III, has denied the accusations, calling them “false” and vowing a vigorous defense. He hinted at a long legal battle, stating, “We are in the process of gathering information/evidence and will be responding to the complaint, which we will vigorously defend,” in a statement to Newsweek.

The lawsuit alleges that Moulds targeted single mothers who were fans of the Buffalo Bills. Their relationship reportedly began on Instagram in 2019 and became a long-term sexual relationship in early 2023. The woman claims Moulds offered her an ‘all-expenses-paid’ trip to North Carolina in January 2023 and engaged in unprotected sexual encounters with her and others. She also alleges that Moulds did not disclose his condition during these encounters. The woman tested positive for the disease after first experiencing symptoms in December 2023. The allegations also reference prior lawsuits from other women with similar accusations against Moulds.

Eric Moulds had a distinguished NFL career, playing as a wide receiver for 12 seasons, mostly with the Buffalo Bills. He recorded 764 receptions for 9,995 yards, scored 49 touchdowns, and was selected to the Pro Bowl three times. Known for his speed and big-play ability, Moulds was part of the Buffalo Bills’ 50th Anniversary Team. After leaving Buffalo, he had short tenures with the Texans and Titans before retiring in 2007.
