ESPN’s Kevin Seifert Unveil Vikings return game situation

The Minnesota Vikings are one of the more interesting and fun to watch teams in the NFL. Regardless of who has possession, both of their units have proven to be able to make plays. However, while their special teams unit has been sound, their catching up with the other units in the playmaking department would go a long way.

That is where two new names are popping up and making things interesting.

ESPN’s Kevin Seifert was writing up takeaways he had from the Vikings game, one of which included their return game situation. The changes the NFL made to it make it more likely to make an impact this year than in years prior. The Vikings have a mini-competition brewing, it seems, and Seifert shares some early takeaways from it.

He writes, “The return game offered interesting takeaways as rookie receiver Tai Felton took the first punt and kickoff returns, and rookie receiver Myles Price ripped off an 81-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter. Felton fair-caught the only punt he saw, and he fumbled at the end of a 21-yard kickoff return. After the game, coach Kevin O’Connell said that the Vikings drafted Felton in part because of his kickoff return skills and that he simply needs more work in the role. There remains less clarity at the punt return position, however.”

Felton appears to be a prime candidate for a role in the Vikings’ offense or special teams, based on the preseason alone. He has played a decent amount of snaps while also showcasing that his size can be an advantage when lined up outside.

As for price, the aforementioned 81-yard return should almost guarantee him a spot in the return game, just need to see how much he decides on being a part of it.
