Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa opens up on return date

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is getting ready for his long-awaited return to the field.

According to The Athletic’s Diana Russini, the plan is for Tagovailoa to make his comeback in the Dolphins’ Week 8 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium.

His practice window is set to open on Wednesday, allowing him to increase his activity before the game.

Tagovailoa has been sidelined since suffering a concussion during Miami’s Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The injury happened when Tagovailoa collided awkwardly with Bills safety Damar Hamlin while attempting to scramble for a first down.

This marked the third concussion of Tagovailoa’s NFL career, raising widespread concerns about his health.

Despite this, Tagovailoa is determined to return and help his team regain their early-season momentum.

"Tua Tagovailoa does expect to play again this season. … He's consulted with doctors and he believes he is okay to continue an NFL career that many people were calling for him to walk away from."

Dolphins’ Offensive Struggles in Tagovailoa’s Absence
Without Tagovailoa, the Dolphins have faced significant challenges on offense.

Since his exit in Week 2, Miami has failed to score more than 15 points in any game, a sharp contrast to their season-opening 20-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Heading into Week 7, the Dolphins rank near the bottom of the league in both passing yards per game (185.6) and points per game (12.0), underscoring the substantial void left by Tagovailoa’s absence.

As the Dolphins prepare for their Week 7 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, all eyes are on Week 8, when Tagovailoa is expected to return.

His comeback could be vital in reigniting Miami’s offense and helping the team turn their season around.
