In addition to blue-chip guards Addie Deal and Journey Houston having already committed, the Hawkeyes are also very much in the running for five-star player Jordan Speiser out of Missouri’s Lutheran High School.

According to On3’s 2025 women’s basketball recruiting rankings, Speiser is ranked as the No. 18 player in the country. Talia Goodman of On3 said that Speiser whittled down her initial list of potential recruits to five, with the Iowa Hawkeyes making the cut. Among Speiser’s five candidates are Iowa in addition to Ohio State, North Carolina, TCU, and Kansas State.

Speiser disqualified Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia Tech, Arkansas, Minnesota, and Oklahoma.

Speiser averaged 22.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game for Missouri, earning him the title of Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 guard contributed to Lutheran High School’s victory in the Class 5 state final.

Speiser is ranked as the No. 20 player in the 2025 class by ESPN and is considered a five-star recruit.

Speiser plays on the All Iowa Attack Nike EYBL team as well. Iowa Hawkeyes like Caitlin Clark, Sydney Affolter, Kylie Feuerbach, Hannah Stuelke, Jada Gyamfi, and Taylor McCabe are graduates of this same program. Speiser was offered by Iowa in June 2021.
