it’s rare that a player like Colorado star Travis Hunter comes into the NFL. He thrived as both a wide receiver and cornerback in college. While it’ll be difficult for him to balance both positions at the NFL level, it sounds like he’s at least going to try. The Tennessee Titans have some big decisions to make. Quarterback is the most important position in the NFL and they have a major need there.
However, they have a chance to draft a truly generational prospect like Hunter with the No. 1 pick. Former Titans star running back Eddie George believes that Hunter’s impact on the franchise could go beyond just what he brings on the field, but also believes that the team does need to think about their needs.
“It’s definitely important to have recognizable players,” George said recently, via The Tennessean. “Guys, fans know and like to cheer for. But you’ve got to ask yourself does it fit a need? I wouldn’t just take a marquee player because he’s there.” While George does want the Titans to make sure Hunter fits a need, he’s very high on the young star’s ability.
“With Travis Hunter you’re talking about a generational talent,” George said. “I think (the Titans) will figure out what his natural position is going to be. I tend to think it’s a little more at corner than receiver along with some specialty things to get him the ball. Naturally, he’s a gifted player when he gets his hands on the ball. He’s ridiculous with his athleticism.”
