For the first time in nearly a decade, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are going to play in a bowl game — and star quarterback Dylan Raiola is clearly excited about it. On Friday, the Cornhuskers freshman quarterback shared a post on social media that perfectly captures his enthusiasm for the upcoming Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium against the Boston College Eagles this Saturday.
“Finale of 24′!!,” Raiola captioned his Instagram Story post which also shows a photo of the signal-caller kneeling on the field. It has been a while since the last time Nebraska saw action in bowl game. That was way back in 2016 when the Cornhuskers were still coached by Mike Riley, though, they lost to the Tennessee Volunteers, 38-24, in that year’s edition of the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
On the strength of a 6-6 overall record in the 2024 campaign, Raiola and the Cornhuskers managed to become bowl-eligible, resulting in an invite to play in this year’s Pinstripe Bowl. Raiola is eyeing to punctuate his first year with Nebraska with a win, which should look good on his football resume.
In his first season with Nebraska, Raiola passed for 2,595 yards and 12 touchdowns against 10 interceptions while operating within the Cornhuskers’ offense that averaged 228.1 passing yards and 23.8 points per game.
