Acaden Lewis, a guard from Sidwell Friends School in D.C., is scheduled to visit Duke this weekend for an official meeting with head coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior’s visit will align with the program’s Countdown to Craziness event, starting at 7 p.m. ET on Friday and airing on ACC Network Extra at 8 p.m.
Originally, Lewis was scheduled to visit UNC, Duke’s main rival, just 10 miles down Tobacco Road this weekend. However, on Tuesday, the rising prospect, who has climbed 64 spots to No. 36 overall in the latest 247Sports 2025 Composite rankings since January, announced that he has canceled his UNC visit and removed the Tar Heels from consideration.
Lewis now has three finalists: Duke, powerhouse Kentucky, and defending back-to-back national champion UConn. He visited the Huskies officially this past weekend and intends to take an official visit to Kentucky before his expected decision date ahead of the early signing period in mid-November. Scheyer and his team, who began their pursuit of Lewis with an offer in late June, hosted him during an unofficial visit to the Blue Devils in early August.
The Duke basketball program has experienced some changes to its visitor list for Countdown to Craziness due to several canceled and rescheduled trips in recent weeks.
Despite the changes, it seems that at least three of Jon Scheyer and his team’s top 2025 recruiting targets will be present behind the bench for the Blue Devils’ annual preseason celebration on Friday night. The top-ranked player on that list is Nate Ament, a five-star forward from Highland School (Va.), who is ranked No. 4 overall and No. 1 in Virginia on the 247Sports 2025 Composite. This weekend will be the 6-foot-9, 185-pound standout’s second visit to Durham during his recruitment, having received his offer from Scheyer during an unofficial visit with the Blue Devils last fall.
Next is Shelton Henderson, a five-star forward from Bellaire High School (Texas), who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 220 pounds. He is ranked No. 22 overall in this recruiting cycle and will be visiting Durham for the first time. Duke basketball’s third-year assistant coach Jai Lucas, a Bellaire graduate, visited Texas last week to meet with this sought-after prospect.
Lastly, as mentioned in Duke Blue Devils On SI this week, Acaden Lewis, a four-star guard from Sidwell Friends School in D.C. and ranked No. 36 overall, has canceled his visit to UNC this weekend. Instead, he’ll be attending the game on Friday night while completing an official visit with the Blue Devils. He is now considering a final three of Duke, UConn, and Kentucky.
Countdown to Craziness kicks off at 7 p.m. ET, and ACC Network Extra will start airing the event, which features a Blue-White intrasquad scrimmage, one hour later.
