Duke Basketball Advances Another Step for Nate Ament

Highland School (Va.) five-star forward Nate Ament is set to visit the Duke basketball program again in early February, aligning with the Blue Devils’ highly anticipated home game against archrival UNC on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. ET (broadcast on ESPN).

Unsurprisingly, Duke’s third-year head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff—aiming to secure their third No. 1 recruiting class in the past four cycles—made the cut in Ament’s top 11 schools, which he announced on Wednesday. Alongside Duke, his list includes Alabama, Arkansas, BYU, Georgetown, Kansas State, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Texas.

Ranked No. 4 overall, No. 2 among small forwards, and No. 1 in Virginia on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, the 6-foot-9, 185-pound Ament is the highest-ranked uncommitted recruit in the nation’s senior class.

Nate Ament, who received his Duke offer during his initial campus visit in September 2023, has yet to set a commitment date. The smooth-scoring forward may opt to wait until the spring to evaluate roster changes before making his college decision.

He appears to be the last 2025 prospect on Duke’s recruiting radar. While insiders suggest the Blue Devils are a strong contender for Ament, no official predictions have been entered in the 247Sports Crystal Ball for his recruitment.

Currently, Duke’s top-ranked 2025 recruiting class includes four early signees: five-star forward Nik Khamenia from Harvard-Westlake School (Calif.), five-star forward Shelton Henderson from Bellaire High School (Texas), and the five-star twins from Columbus High School (Fla.), forward Cameron Boozer and guard Cayden Boozer.
