Dan Lanning & the Ducks Receive Stunning News Involving 3rd overall player in the On3 Transfer Portal with 2,779 rushing yards and 22 TDs

On3 transfer portal reporter Pete Nakos logged a prediction for Oregon to land a key target on Monday. Nakos, who specializes in transfer portal news, predicted that the Ducks would pick up former Tulane running back Makhi Hughes this offseason.

Hughes is currently ranked as the top running back and No. 3 overall player in the transfer portal according to On3. The 2024 All-American Athletic Conference selection has two years of eligibility remaining after running for at least 1,300 yards during each of his first two seasons with the Green Wave.

In 2024, the star running back tallied 1,401 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, adding another two scores through the air. Nakos’ prediction comes at a good time for Oregon, which lost current stud running back Jordan James to the NFL draft on Monday. If Hughes were to commit to the Ducks, he would be set to follow in the footsteps of James, who ran for 2,026 yards and 26 touchdowns in two seasons in Eugene. While each of On3’s transfer portal predictions are paired with a “confidence level” rating from 1-100, Nakos’ prediction was listed at “70%” on Monday. The transfer portal specialist is currently 162-of-166 on his predictions.
