Diana Taurasi Makes Caitlin Clark Announcement Ahead of UConn-South Carolina
WNBA legend Diana Taurasi has had some interesting things to say about Caitlin Clark during her career. The former Phoenix Mercury star has the resume to back up these words as an 11-time All-Star, 5-time scoring champ and 3-time WNBA champ.
Whatever skepticism Taurasi had about Clark appears to have dissipated. Taurasi and Sue Bird are once again part of alternate ESPN broadcasts during the Final Four. “The Bird and Taurasi Show” will be live during the national championship matchup between the South Carolina Gamecocks and UConn Huskies.
Bird and Taurasi announced that Clark will be joining them during their national title game broadcast.
“Guys, we’re going to come back on Sunday,” Bird revealed on Friday. “We’re here for the final. We’ve got Caitlin Clark joining the show. This will be Caitlin’s second time (on “The Bird and Taurasi Show”). So, it’ll be nice to have her back as a pro.”

Taurasi chimed in with her thoughts about the announcement while praising Clark. “She was a college kid,”
Taurasi added. “… Not anymore. … Caitlin’s grown. Boy, Caitlin’s amazing.”
Diana Taurasi when asked about Caitlin Clark's impact on women's basketball:
"It's amazing. What Caitlin's been able to do in her short career so far has been nothing short of remarkable. The one thing that I really love about her … she's put the work in. Even throughout her… pic.twitter.com/LolH8ioDjS

Taurasi drew criticism for her 2024 warning for Clark heading into the WNBA. It appears Taurasi is now a major believer in Clark’s potential.

“Reality is coming,” Taurasi said on ESPN in 2024, per New York Post. “You look superhuman playing against some 18-year-olds but you’re going to come play with some grown women that have been playing professional basketball for a long time.
“There is gonna be a transition period where you’re going to have to give yourself some grace as a rookie.”
