BREAKING: Brooklyn Nets Announce Signing Of Former Wichita State Star

Tyson Etienne just wrapped up a season in which he played 21 games (12 as a starter) for the College Park Skyhawks, the G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 9.9 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 44.4% from the field and 35.6% from beyond the arc.

On Tuesday, the Brooklyn Nets announced they have signed Etienne. According to Evan Barnes from Newsday Sports, “The Nets have signed guard Tyson Etienne. Since the roster is currently full, this is likely an Exhibit 10 deal. Expect more similar signings before training camp.”

Etienne spent three seasons playing college basketball at Wichita State. In his last year with the Shockers, he averaged 14.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, with shooting percentages of 35.9% from the field and 32.6% from three-point range.

It’s highly likely that Etienne will be waived before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. However, there’s a strong possibility he could join the Long Island Nets, the G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets.

According to Erik Slater of ClutchPoints: “The Nets have signed free agent guard Tyson Etienne, as confirmed by the team. Etienne, a 6’2″ guard from Wichita State, went undrafted in 2022. Last season, he averaged 10.5 points and 3.6 assists with shooting splits of 44/36/78 in 37 games for the Hawks’ G League affiliate.”
